About

The Stories

Each of us has a unique Perspective. Our perspective is influenced by our culture, family, and life experiences but also by the people we meet who share their perspective with us. One of my favorite things about travel, which I have always wished I could share, is getting to see life through other people’s perspectives.  Sometimes it challenges me if I disagree, other times it opens my eyes to something I never thought about or astonishes me in finding that someone across the world from a totally different background thinks and cares about the same things I do. Travel has both shown me that there are more ways to look at the world than my own and that there are also commonalities that wherever we come from we can relate to.  This year on my trip to Africa, I had a new idea:  What if I actually sat down with different people and asked them about their lives, their perspectives?  I did and I loved what happened.  I gained a much deeper understanding of where they were coming from and learned things about who they were that I never would have without doing this project. The purpose of this blog is to give a voice to these perspectives so that I can provide the same gifts given to me, to others. I strive to bring readers to ground level to meet individuals who are tackling real issues. I want this blog to create a platform that can change perspectives, connect people and inspire.

Growing up part time in the USA and part time in New Zealand, travel is a part of who I am. I always struggled to answer the question "Where are you from?"  and often longed to create unity between my worlds in wishing that people from my different lives could meet each other.  After completing my degrees in Ecology and French at the University of Otago in New Zealand, I set off to explore.  Driven by my passions for conservation, sustainability, new cultures and adventure, I am drawn to travel and work in remote locations. Feeling overwhelmed at times by the challenges facing our planet today (environmental, social, etc.), I have found an immense source of hope and motivation through connecting with inspiring individuals along my journeys. I know that I personally care more about issues that I feel connected to. Therefore I believe that the more we connect to and attempt to understand each other, the more momentum we have to address and find solutions to today's challenges many of which defy international boarders. Through my writing and photography I want to share my passion for this world, and connect the efforts and thoughts of individuals to a wider audience to make a positive difference.
